Description
Traditional Polish dish made with minced meat, rice, and cabbage, all wrapped and baked in a tomato sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 cup rice
- 500 g ground meat (pork, beef, or mixed)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400 g) tomatoes or 400 g tomato sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Spices (e.g., marjoram, thyme) to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cook the rice in salted water and drain.
- In a large skillet, heat oil, sauté the onion and garlic, then add the ground meat and cook until browned.
- Mix the meat with the cooked rice, seasoning with salt, pepper, and spices.
- Separate the cabbage leaves, blanch them in hot water until flexible.
- Place a spoonful of filling on each leaf and roll, tucking in the sides.
- Arrange the gołąbki in a baking dish, pour tomato sauce over them, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 45-60 minutes.
Notes
Serve warm, ideally with extra tomato sauce and side dishes like fresh bread or potatoes. Gołąbki can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days, or frozen for later use.
